Planning your stay

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • As a regional and rural area, phone reception can be patchy and subject to your provider. The most likely spot for a good connection is on The River Road at the hill between Burroman Flat campsite and the green roof house.
  • There is Telstra reception (usually a bar or few) on the flat. For Optus and Vodafone, it's less reliable - you may get a signal, but if not, on the rise at the road just up from the gate is mostly pretty good. Alternatively, about 1.5km from the gate going towards the old town is a high point on The River Road that looks south west. This is one of the better spots without climbing a mountain.
  • We recommend that you print out or save the directions to travel for offline viewing. You can also start navigating using Apple Maps or Google Maps while in service, and your device should continue to track progress against the pre-loaded route even if service drops out.
  • Alternatively, you can download and save an area from Google Maps to your phone or tablet and use it when you're offline, see Download areas and navigate offline.

  • BP Petrol is available at Termeil. They are alcohol licensed and also sell a range of useful things and food items.

  • Ulladulla has the nearest large chain store supermarkets.
  • Termeil petrol station has basic food, alcohol and 'stuff'.
  • Bawley Point IGA is a well stocked shop in a small shopping centre.

When planning your trip, if you are using the water we recommend becoming familiar with the current conditions and have some understanding of the river's level and flow,

  • Usual river height is roughly 600ml.
  • WaterNSW maintain a real-time Clyde River gauge at the old saw mill site opposite the village.

You can check the current height on the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) website or via the NSW Govt 'WaterLive app' – which also approximates the daily flow in MegaLitres.

  • NSW Govt WaterLive app: Download from the Apple App Store (iPhone users)
  • NSW Govt WaterLive app:  Download from Google Play (Android users)
  • Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) also published useful information. See River Height data for Clyde River at Brooman

We understand the power of a fire to cook, warm your body and connect with spirit and nature however please keep these points in mind:

  • Common sense is expected. During hot dry days when there is wind – let your fire go out in the morning – light it up again in the evening when conditions are calm. Be particularly mindful of strong wind and high temperatures. Don’t leave a fire unattended during hot, windy days.
  • Between the months of April through to September we regularly burn piles of wood in the paddocks and forests (approved hazard reduction fires) – we like to keep this country healthy and protected. If you see a fire and are concerned please contact us before creating an alarm.
  • Please be responsible with fire at all times.
  • Having said that, occasionally we sell bundles of firewood for $20 which can be picked up or left waiting at your site. A bundle is approx 20 decent pieces of local hardwood. Help yourself to dead sticks and branches on the ground.
  • Firewood can be bought at Termeil Petrol Station if we are unable to supply wood.
  • For more information about fire safety and any bans in the area, see: NSW Rural Fire Service

  • Strictly no dogs or other pets allowed anywhere on the Brooman property.
  • Brooman has a wealth of native fauna diversity and we are actively engaged in bringing more endemic species back.
  • We want visitors and kids to see unique native animals while visiting.
  • Please respect the local native wildlife, Don't hurt them.
  • If you see any bandicoots, quolls or rare birds (or animals) we'd love to hear about it and see a photo.
  • We shoot and bait ferals. If you sight a dog, fox, cat, deer, pig or rabbit please let us know: type, time and location.
  • As this area is surrounded by working farms, there will be cattle nearby.

  • At Burroman Flat there's a communal area with portable loos (emptied regularly) and a small tank of potable water intended for washing your hands. There is also a drop toilet for emergencies (when our pump-out guy is delayed or running late!)
  • When you arrive at the gate facing the loos, to the right are sites 1 etc, to the right are sites 2-8.
  • At the Tent site areas, there’s a drop toilet and potable water.
  • At Toombooloo there's some tank water, and a portable or drop toilet.

  • Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photos and memories.
  • Please take all your rubbish and belongings with you.
  • The nearest tip is ‘Ulladulla Recycling and Waste Depot’ 94 Pirralea Road, Ulladulla NSW 2539
  • There are council garbage bins at Bawley Point, Burrill Lake, Ulladulla and Milton. (need a MAP or LINK pls)
  • Hipcamp users have agreed to take their own rubbish. If any is left, they will be charged a rubbish removal fee.
